Do you love Chardonnay? How about Pinot Noir? If you said yes to either of those, or both (I like your style) I’ve got the place for you! Head on over to Sonoma County and visit MacRostie Winery and Vineyards in Healdsburg. Keep reading to hear more about why I loved this experience!
The day I visited MacRostie was also the day where we got the most rainfall we’ve had in about a year. So, it was a bit of a wet one to say the least. That won’t stop me from getting my vino on! There’s still wine to be tasted and thank goodness, most wine tastings are done inside. Besides, if you have to be stuck indoors, what’s better than celebrating by drinking wine?
Upon walking in to MacRostie I was immediately given a glass of Chardonnay…umm major points in my book! We were shown to a table next to their giant windows overlooking their estate vineyards. A beautiful view! I can’t wait to come again and sit out on the patio on a sunny day. Next up, a flight of their different Chardonnay’s. I really loved how they showcase all different types, from more refined, dry and refreshing Chards to the butter bombs full of caramelized fruit and oak. There’s truly a Chardonnay here for everyone.
But what I was really excited about was the Pinot Noir. Tasting through their Pinot’s I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety that was offered, much like their Chardonnays. Ranging from Carneros, to the Sonoma Coast, to Russian River, MacRostie sources fruit from the best places to grow Pinot Noir to offer a true expression of this grape from each region.
A few of my favorites included the Terra de Promissio, Russian River and Wildcat Mountain Pinot Noir. But to be honest, all were very approachable, and anyone could find something they liked!
MacRostie is a great place to come hang out with a few friends for a relaxed wine tasting experience. If you find yourself in Sonoma County or more specifically, the Healdsburg area, come here if you especially love Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Laid back vibe, not pretentious and very approachable! Also, great view and lots of picture opps. Oh! And lots of cute pups!
