Seavey Vineyards isn’t your normal touristy Napa winery – this place is off the beaten path, requires a reservation and is well worth the drive! As soon as I exited my car, I was greeted by our friendly tasting host, Juilo, with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I love when I’m handed wine before I even enter the winery. Such a nice touch.
After we finished our Sauvginon Blanc we hopped in the four wheeler to go on an adventure through the vineyards. There’s nothing like getting a little dirty and riding through the vineyards where the wine in your glass came from. The Seavey vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. Sitting high up off Conn Creek Road, with a view of Lake Hennessey, I wanted to set up shop and never leave. Pictures don’t even do it justice. You will have to go see it for yourself!
I could have sat at the top of the Seavey vineyard drinking wine all day but at last, we had to venture back to our full seated tasting, which I guess was an ok exception. The buildings at Seavey are old and full of history, dating back to their original existence in the early 1880s.
The tasting lineup was wonderful, comparing some older vintages and sipping through both the Seavey estate labels and their Caravina line – which is meant to be enjoyed right away, where as their estate wines are meant to be aged. These wines speak for themselves. You can tell they are handcrafted and small production. If you love to cellar your wines, this is the place for you! I tried a 10 year old Cabernet and it was an absolute dream. I wish I had the self control to let a bottle age for that long!
The team at Seavey only host three groups a day, which leads to an extremely intimate experience. If you’re looking for a special experience where you can really take in your surroundings, the history and wine then Seavey needs to be added to your list.
P.S. Absolutely loved having my best friend here from Boston. We had a wonderful weekend of tasting and you’ll be seeing her (Jenna) in more of my upcoming blog posts. Jenna, thanks for being my wine buddy 🙂 Come back soon!
Cheers,
Raquel
