Break out the bubbly and pop some bottles, it’s almost New Year’s Eve! If you’re wondering what in the heck do you buy to serve your guests, or bring to a party, I’ve got you covered. Included in this list are some of the best sparkling wines and Champagnes for your NYE shenanigans AND for all budgets!

Best Sparkling Wine For New Year’s Eve

If you’re looking for something more affordable and better value for your dollar, look towards sparkling wine. Remember, sparkling wine will taste like Champagne, it just can’t be called Champagne because it’s not made in Champagne, France. Most of the sparkling wines listed below can be found in a wine shop near you!

Gruet Sparkling Brut

Made in the traditional Methode Champenoise, you would never know this is made in New Mexico. Yep, that’s right! For $15 this is the ultimate sparkling wine to bring to and serve at parties where there will be lots of guests. Whenever I serve this people are so surprised that it’s not actual Champagne and that it’s under $20. Trust me!

Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut

You can never go wrong with Roederer! Their Anderson Valley Brut is only $20 at Costco and you can’t beat that! If you’re having a few guests over, buy a couple of these. Still delicious and won’t break the bank.

Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc

Tried and true, Schramsberg never lets me down! It’s great quality for the price and is pretty easy to track down in a grocery store or wine shop. I suggest the Blanc de Blanc, however if you’re a fan of pink bubs, the Sparkling Rosé is yummy as well! The Blanc de Blanc can be found for about $35.

Iron Horse Wedding Cuvée

Iron Horse is my absolute favorite Sonoma County bubble producer. Iron Horse has a wide variety of bubbles but their most popular is the wedding cuvée which you can likely find in a wine shop near you. Being made from Pinot Noir grapes, it has a beautiful slight pink hue. You can typically find the Wedding Cuvée for around $40.

Best Champagne for New Year’s Eve

Looking to spend a little more on some good Champagne for NYE? When buying Champagne, I always suggest looking for something at least $35 and up, as it’s hard to find a good Champagne that is also inexpensive. Most of the Champagnes listed below can be found in a wine shop near you!

Francois Lecompte 2009 Premier Cru Millesime Brut

Speaking of finding a killer Champagne with a decent price tag – this one is an anomaly. Typically, a vintage Champagne is more expensive (most Champagnes are a blend of multiple vintages), but this one is only $35 and very tasty! This bottle may be a bit harder to find in a wine shop, but I found it on Vivino – linked above!

Champagne Delamotte Brut Rosé

Delamotte is a great Champagne producer to look to when you want to step up your bubbly game a bit. Bottle price hovers in the $80 range but is well worth it. I also suggest their regular Brut!

Champagne Billecart-Salmon Extra Brut Vintage 2008

Another step up is a vintage Billecart. A solid and well respected Champagne producer. I love both the Extra Brut and the Rosé. Very fine bubbles and fresh, clean flavors – not overly yeasty if you’re not into that. Runs about $100. Side note – you can also get a non-vintage Billecart for about half the price!

Dom Perignon 2008

Spending a romantic NYE with your significant other? Or maybe just by yourself? (haha, no shame) then this is the bottle for you. Yes, it lives up to the hype. Dom does tend to have a little more of those brioche characteristics but is still clean and dry. This bubbly icon will set ya back about $150, but how many times do you celebrate a whole new decade?

There ya have it! I hope this NYE sparkling wine and Champagne guide is helpful for you as you prep for your plans. Whether it’s sitting on the couch at home, out at a party with friends, or sipping in a fancy club – cheers to a new year and happy 2020!

Cheers,

Raquel
