Let me introduce you to one of my absolute favorite wineries in Russian River Valley: Copain Wines. My love for Copain runs deep for many reasons, including their French-inspired winemaking process and the incredible talent of their winemaker. Did I mention the incredible views of the Russian River? Copain Wines is a wine country destination that you don’t want to miss!

What is Copain Wines?

In French, Copain is defined as “friend,” which is very fitting for a winery that encourages celebrating the little things in life with friends and family. When you visit Copain, you’re a friend, indeed.

From personal experience, I can confirm that the winemaker, Ryan Zepaltas, is amazing. He is very talented at what he does and it shows in his production. However, the positive impressions don’t stop with Ryan. The entire staff at Copain offer incredible hospitality (shout out to Michael) at every visit.

Where is Copain Wines?

Located in Healdsburg, CA, Copain Wines overlooks the Russian River. It’s hillside charm provides the perfect place to sip small production wine in the beautiful wine country. They recently renovated their outdoor seating area, making it even more enjoyable to relax and unwind.

The Best Wine from Copain

Copain Wines specializes in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and cool climate Syrah. Copain is a boutique producer, making under 10,000 cases of wine annually. I am especially big fans of their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – I can’t stop reaching for their bottles in my wine fridge!

Copain Chardonnay

The Copain Chardonnay offerings will turn any Chardonnay skeptic into a believer. Quite honestly, these might be some of my favorite Chardonnays to date. The Tidal Break is a personal favorite. I love the salinity featured on the wine and the influences from a coastal vineyard. With notes of peach and baked pear, Dupratt won’t let you down either.

Copain Pinot Noir

Don’t even get me started on Copain’s Pinot Noirs. I could die happy drinking a Copain Pinot – especially the Maggy Hawk and Abel Pinot. All jokes aside, Copain produces some of the best Pinot Noir in wine country. See some of my favorite selections below.

You can also find an impressive Rosé, Grenache, and Cabernet Franc in their production. Truly something for everyone.
